On September 6th, 2008 at the Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival, the Bluefaced Leicester made its premier debut to the first visiting UK Bluefaced Leicester breeder-judge, David Cruikshank. Mr. Cruikshank is from Castle Douglas, Scotland and has grown up with Bluefaced Leicester's. His father's flock was the renowned Laidlawstiel flock, and David runs the Nithsdale flock of pedigreed Bluefaced Leicester's. David is also the current President of the UK- Bluefaced Leicester Sheep Breeders' Association.

David's primary judging assignment for this trip was to judge the first NAMSS Mule Sheep & Bluefaced Leicester Progeny Show, held in conjunction with the WSWF. The organizers of the WSWF's Open Sheep shows gave us permission to also utilize David's Bluefaced Leicester knowledge and skill by allowing him judge the Bluefaced Leicester entries during the Open classes. The Bluefaced Leicester's were at the top of the mornings judging lineup on Saturday morning.
